5 Reasons for Vaginal Acne

Acne in the vagina usually appears around the lips of the vagina or vulva, which is the female genitalia's outermost part. Acne in the vagina, like acne elsewhere on the body, should not be pressed because it will only cause a bacterial infection and spread it further to the surrounding skin.

This is the source of vaginal acne.

The exact cause of vaginal acne is unknown at this time. However, several factors are thought to contribute to the appearance of acne in this genital area, including

1. Obstructed pores
Accumulation of dirt, sweat, or bacteria can cause blockages in the pores of the vaginal skin, resulting in the appearance of acne in the vagina. To avoid vaginal acne, it is critical to keep the intimate organs clean at all times.

2. Dermatitis due to contact
Acne in the vagina can also be caused by contact dermatitis. This condition is characterized by skin inflammation caused by irritation from certain substances.

Bath soaps, cleansing tissues, and bandages containing perfume, as well as certain condom ingredients, can all cause vaginal contact dermatitis.

3. Folliculitis
Folliculitis is the next most common cause of vaginal acne. This condition is distinguished by inflammation in the hair follicles caused by bacterial infection. Folliculitis is commonly caused by the practice of shaving pubic hair with an unsanitary razor.

In addition to shaving, wearing underwear or tight clothing can cause folliculitis.

4. suppurative hidradentitis
Hydradenitis suppurativa has been linked to vaginal acne (HS). This condition can occur when the sweat glands become inflamed. Hydradenitis suppurativa can appear in areas of skin that are prone to friction, such as the armpits, buttocks, and breasts, in addition to the vagina.

5. Molluscum contagiosum
Molluscum contagiosum is a viral infection that can cause acne-like lumps to appear on any part of the body, including the vagina. This condition can cause itching, but it does not cause pain and can heal on its own.

Vaginal acne usually clears up on its own. However, if the number is already large or reoccurs frequently, it is best to consult a doctor. Acne medication is typically prescribed by doctors to be applied to the vagina.
