3 How to detect the sex of the baby

To detect the sex of the baby, it can usually be done using the following methods:

1. Ultrasound examination: This is the most commonly used method to detect the sex of the baby. An ultrasound exam uses sound waves to produce pictures of the baby in the womb. In general, around 18 to 20 weeks of gestation, doctors can identify the sex of the baby through an ultrasound examination.

2. Maternal blood test: Some maternal blood tests can give clues about the expected sex of the baby. For example, a non-invasive Pre-natal test (NIPT) or a quad screen Pre-natal test can provide information about a baby's risk for genetic disorders, and can also determine the sex of the baby with high accuracy.

3. Amniocentesis: This is a medical procedure in which a small amount of amniotic fluid (the fluid around the baby in the uterus) is taken for analysis. Besides being used to detect genetic disorders, amniocentesis can also provide information about the sex of the baby. However, this procedure is usually performed only when there are strong medical indications, such as a high risk of genetic disorders.

Keep in mind that the above methods are available options, and the decision to have a baby gender tested is usually a personal one that should be made in consultation with your doctor or healthcare professional.
