Rabies is a very serious and fatal viral disease in humans and animals. If someone is infected with rabies, there is no known drug that can cure this disease effectively.

If someone is bited or exposed to saliva animals allegedly infected with rabies, vaccines and immunoglobulin rabies must immediately be given to protect the person.
If someone has shown the symptoms of rabies, the current treatment is only supportive, namely to reduce symptoms and increase patient comfort. However, the prognosis remains bad and most of the rabies cases that have shown symptoms ended with death.
